News

J.Crew online taunts me with it's new Spring collection and Intro with the girl in Rome. How I wish I were that yellow bag slinging around Rome.

Excited about getting my cheery Valentines put together and given away. It's fun to celebrate some love and like.

It was my mom's birthday yesterday. Although she shared the event with the massive fanfare of the SuperBowl, I think she had a good time. I told her Tom Petty was singing just for her. I sent her some lovely flowers (above) and while it may be tacky to post the picture, I just had to.

Not happy to report that my eating better goal has hit some rough spots lately (SuperBowl food such as mini pizzas and chocolate covered pretzels...a soda or 2 last week, etc.) Have to get back on the horse.

Thrilled for the sun being out today despite the chance of snow lurking on the forecast. Washed the car on Saturday and feel good that some of the nastiness it was covered in was cleared off...if only for a brief moment.

Here's hoping you enjoy a nice Monday.

Little by little

Improvements as of this week:

No more soda.
Healthy lunches and dinners. (For the most part. Come on, a girl needs a bite of brownie or ice cream sometimes...)
Eating breakfast regularly.

Looking forward to:

Spring...could the snow please stop and the weather get above 20 degrees so I can feel my toes again.
A Fun Trip...more details to be unraveled later.
The Weekend...always a good time to relax and rearrange my house...and a picture project for this end of the week.

Laughing about:

Daily events at the office. Co-workers say funny and strange things.
Still chuckling about Jeremy puking in a drawer.
How the snow looks so pretty outside but I still dislike it so much.

I like food

My name is Desiree. I like food. Maybe a bit too much. Maybe not enough to cook 5-course meals every night...well, I'm almost there if you count several snacks as courses. Recently I've been dutifully watching the new season of Biggest Loser while eating my carbohyrdrate and fat loaded dinners. It hasn't inspired me enough to change anything. I decided to blog about this today in the hopes that if I write it down and put it out there to the blog world, it will help me to do better and be committed.

So, today is day 1 of my new outlook on food and my relationship with it. I'm not going to start off by going crazy with the dieting. While it may work for some, it's not something that has helped me in the past. I do want to consider what I'm eating more. I resolve to eat more fresh foods (vegetables and fruits) and less soda. More oatmeal and yogurt and less fast food. More fish and less red meat. Baby steps I think is key for me. We are also talking about getting back to the gym and planning a fun trip to look forward to. So, now I've put it out there. Thanks for listening.

I'm baAack

There's no point in attempting to fill you in on what happened in Seattle for Christmas...it was great to be there and be surrounded by the ones I love...or at least genuinely like. After so much togetherness, it really does make it hard to stand one more minute of fun family times...or am I alone in that thinking?

So, this post is dedicated to my sister because, well, I sort of owe it to her. For years, I convinced my brother into playing into my dark ploy of having my sister think she was not our real sister. It really worked well. We told her that her father was a Mexican, mom was sort of embarrassed by that and was working up the nerve to tell her when she was older. It really wasn't hard at all. While my brother and I were light haired and skinned, she was the opposite. And she was four years younger than us...so she believed us. Poor girl.

So here's to you, my younger, more spoiled sister. Even though you were tortured early on, you did reap great rewards later as you now have mom and dad wrapped around your every wish. :) Maybe I was just wanting you to grow up and play dolls with me...you never did like dolls. I am so glad you've grown older now and I can think of you as my real sister. It's nice that we can have meaningful conversations that don't have to be about candy. It was great to see you for Christmas. Your new puppy is adorable and I'm sure you had lots of fun in Canada skiing!

Love to you!
